TIPS FOR AVOIDING ID THEFT
- Shred all personal documents including credit union and financial statements
- Keep personal records and social security info in a secure location
- Call the post office immediately if you are not receiving your mail
- Be aware of others whenever entering PIN number
- Limit the number of cards and info you carry in your wallet
- Report lost or stolen cards immediately
- Cancel all inactive credit accounts
- Use passwords on all credit cards, bank accounts, and phone cards
- Match your bills against charges to your credit account each month

You can get a free report from each of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies every 12 months. The official Web site, annualcreditreport.com, is the ONLY authorized online source for you to get a free credit report under the federal law. Some other sites claim to offer "free" credit reports, but may charge you for another product if you accept a "free" report.
